Snow White and the Brownies

Snow White and the Brownies

By Michelle Dixon

49th Oldham Brownies (St. Matthews) performed their first virtual Panto: Snow White and the Brownies. We thought if we can’t go to the Panto this year, let’s create our own.

Parts were chosen and Leaders posted out scripts for the Brownies to learn a few weeks before our Zoom.

The Brownies and their families were amazing. We could tell the effort and time that went into learning their lines from their performances…. and the costumes wow!  All the Brownies looked fantastic and they definitely blew all the Leadership team away with their commitment to their roles.

It was a fantastic evening on Zoom and even brought a tear to our eyes.  Here are just some of the girls in their amazing costumes, I wonder if you can tell the part they are playing?

Christmas Zoom Party for Rochdale Rainbows + Brownies

Christmas Zoom Party for Rochdale Rainbows + Brownies

By Lyndsey Hendry

22nd Rochdale rainbows and 43rd Rochdale brownies had a fun filled Christmas zoom party to finish our year off. They had a quiz, bingo, decorated Christmas jumper biscuits and Christmas figure parachute. Best bit was the two unexpected challenges- design a Christmas drink and who can turn themselves into a snowman the fastest. Fun night and looking forward to Jan 2021.

22nd Rochdale Rainbows & 43rd Rochdale brownies undertook their Act your age challenge during our zoom session last night. The girls did a quiz, age challenges including putting 5 t-shirts/jumpers on, finding 6 things beginning with b, balancing 7 spoons on nose, 8 jumping jacks, 9 socks on hands and finding 10 teddy bears. To end we made a Pudsey pom-pom.

Oldham Brownies complete Remembrance Sunday Activities

By Valerie Roscoe

This week at our zoom meeting 16th East Oldham Brownies followed the Remembrance Sunday ideas from the Guide website. It is very good. I had asked the girls to paint or stick a poppy on a stone over half term, emailed some pictures to copy. Then on Wednesday I read out some of the little readings and asked the girls to write names of their heroes on a hand drawn stone shape. I liked the way it brought Remembrance up to date, using NHS and supermarket staff at this present time, that the girls can relate to.

Remembrance Sunday 2020

Remembrance Sunday 2020

I took the wreath for Oldham East and West Oldham Division into Oldham town centre. It was a different experience to normal years. There were quite a few people standing around and wreaths already laid. We weren’t told where to stand, and where to walk but after the 3 minute silence and the military wreath laid, a shout went out for anyone else wishing to lay a wreath to come now. That was a long walk and only me. But I am glad I went.

Remembrance Plaques and Bonfire Smores

22nd Rochdale rainbows and 43rd Rochdale brownies had a fab zoom session tonight. We made Remembrance plaques – one with finger paint and one with a paint brush, water fireworks and good old bonfire favourite smores, yummy.
