Blog #8 – Shout out about our successes

Apologies for this week’s blog being a day late.  I was totally engrossed in preparing for our Rainbow CSI night next week, that time just got the better of me.  I’ll let you know next week whether all my hard work pays off – will the Rainbow Detectives catch the thief who has stolen the Chief Guide’s diamond ring?!

This week, we’ve launched the Big Brownie Birthday Star Quest Challenge Song on YouTube.  If you haven’t seen it yet, click here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FchUlClGYgI.  Thank you to 35th Rochdale Brownies for providing their lovely voices and to Neil Scales for putting the song and video together for us.

The Girlguiding North West Region Guiding Idols 2015 have been announced.  Congratulations to Gill Leach, Sue Lumley, Susan Wint, Katie Haigh and Michelle Wood who were successfully selected by the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides & Senior Section members of 8th Rossendale units.  Our Idols are invited to the Region Celebration afternoon on Sunday 7 June. Well done ladies!

My real involvement with Girlguiding started with a chance conversation with a fellow commuter on a train travelling from Milnrow to Oldham and that was 30 years ago.

Like most people I just wanted to be a unit helper thinking not too involved but as still happens today thank goodness! I was encouraged to become a leader.

During my involvement as a member of Girlguiding I have been a District Commissioner, Division Commissioner and then in 2004 I became Chair of Guiding Development. I am also still a Guide Leader and importantly a recently qualified Senior Section leader. Girlguiding is very important to me and it has enhanced my life in so many ways and I am proud to be a member.
