*Loveable Rogues Perform at the girl-only festival*
Guides from across the County have returned from four days of high-adrenaline activities, and entertainment from top pop trio Loveable Rogues at Wellies and Wristbands – a fantastic girl-only festival exclusively for Girlguiding members.
Girls travelled to Waddow Hall in Lancashire to join more than one thousand members of Girlguiding for the action-packed extravaganza over the Bank Holiday weekend (23-26 August).
Thrill-seekers had their pick of the adventurous activities on offer at Waddow Hall – one of Girlguiding’s Training and Activity Centres – including zip wiring, abseiling, canoeing and kayaking, climbing and the crate challenge, which sees fearless participants build a huge tower of crates while harnessed to a rope. In the evening they were entertained by the Loveable Rogues on the main stage, as well as a host of other bands.
Guides also had the chance to relax and learn new skills – with nail artists, face painting, hot tubs, dance workshops, zorbing and inflatables on the 178-acre site for the occasion.
Among the activities the Guides, all aged 10 to 14, chose to try out were building and sailing a raft on the River Ribble, pioneering, archery and climbing!
Ciara Harrison, aged 12,said: “Rafting was immense – but it was a shame we didn’t fall in because I wanted to get wet!”
Emily Benson, aged 11, said “Wellies and Wristbands was awesome – we had a great time trying all the activities and the bands were great!”
Leader Sara Harrison said: “The Guides have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It’s great that Guiding gives girls and young women such fantastic opportunities!”
